The day before Polling Day is known as Cooling-off Day, during which campaigning activities and election advertising are not allowed. This period of campaign silence starts on May 2, after midnight, and ends only after polls close on Polling Day on May 3. Find out what is allowed – and not allowed – during this time.

What you need to know about the cooling-off period

Introduced in 2010, Cooling-off Day was first observed in the 2011 General Election.
