Election posters featuring Prime Minister Lawrence Wong (foreground) of the ruling People's Action Party and members of the Singapore People's Party team contesting Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC. PHOTO: THE STRAITS TIMES Dear BT reader, Today was Nomination Day, which saw prospective candidates turn up at nine nomination centres around the island to submit their papers to stand in the May 3 general election. There was plenty of uncertainty and drama, with some ministers making surprise appearances where they weren't expected and the People's Action Party (PAP) winning Marine Parade-Braddell Heights GRC via a walkover after a no-show by the Workers' Party (WP). We also saw the emergence of several three-cornered fights and even a four-way battle in Tampines GRC, the first of its kind since 1992. Catch up on all the major developments with this round-up article, or scroll through our Nomination Day live blog to review any action you might have missed. There will be a lot more content coming in over the nine days of campaigning until May 1, so keep checking our GE2025 microsite for more stories. |
